To some, UCRF may have appeared as if it was no more. Not to the artists. During periods of quiet determination and bursts of creativity and passion, artists have picked up the cause for the patient with cancer. Passing word from one to another. Finally, they met ths week to discuss what they can do about cancer.
The meeting, organized by the quiet but very strong Anita Seruwagi, was given its tempo by the celebrated Gospel Singer, Super star Judith Babirye. Talking among contemporaries, Anita declared "the meeting successful". The photos confirm that impression.
The meeting noted challenges. UCRF lacks a good office to conduct its work. Artists see this as a major challenge. The office - currently offered as a gesture of suppor by a few artists - is small and shared by others. It seems like reasonable offices is the first priority.
Since monday, it's been a busy season handling querries and more cancer related questions. It is sad that many of the artists never knew the depth and intensity of the problem of cancer. They thought that it is a story that should only worry old people - WRONG! But now, they are all armed to join the battle.
To advance their work, they have resolved to be organized. They will create formal structures -A UCRF Administrator, Secretary and an Office Assistant to help run the UCRF office especially when we are in the field.
Hearing about this development, Mr. Anthony Isanga of UCRF Luweero Branch was excited. He is inspired by the work of Judith Babirye and happy with the new team effort. He says "As a team and with the help of such artists, I am sure we can easily carry out some fundraising drives for UCRF, intensify our activities seriously this year, and help patients with cancer"
