Way forward for the UCRF

UCRF- Uganda Cancer Research Foundation

· The meeting was chaired by the Madam Anita

· She welcomed the members to the meeting. She reminded them about the mission of the Uganda Cancer research foundation (UCRF) and how to prevent Cancer in Uganda

· She encouraged members not to miss monthly meetings. Meetings are useful for sharing new ideas, creating awareness about cancer, and plans for skits, films, adverts, documentary, staged drama forum theater, audio songs, poems, TV drama, workshops, can be discussed. The plan is to make this information available in all local languages.

Partnership

· This helps the Uganda Cancer Research Foundation (UCRF) members to pattern with different organization to fight against cancer. Working together, it also helps the UCRF members to create jobs among themselves.

· Madam Anita requested the members to always to keep records because it is necessary for us when the time of workshops come we use that literature to sensitize people in the fields.

1. We are lacking machines like video camera, still camera for using in the field, again but paying the rent is the problem.

About us
The National Union of Creative & Performing Artists [NUCPA] is a Ugandan based and registered workers’ under the Central Organization of Free Trade Unions. As artists, it’s in our interest to help save the world and thus a spring factor to our endless commitment in the fight against. Cancer

Working hand in hand with all artists all over the country, artists we have come up with a liaison office and committee that coordinates the activities of the union with the great service of Uganda Cancer Research Foundation [UCRF]. Artists all over the country are continuously and massively teaming up for a uniformed force against cancer. This we have achieved through the mobilization of the 3 skills;

Live Stage Productions
These involve Performing Arts staging live performances of plays, music, dances, and recording short films. Art exhibitions of paintings and other pieces of art are done. Artists and schools have come up with different music, dance and drama productions in the bid to participate in the on-going campaign against cancer.

Mobile Cinema
To reach many in the community at a friendly cost, artists have adopted the model of mobile cinema. Within a back tent, the public would be mobilized and presented to at the projector screen. This would involve productions like films and short films, music videos, documentaries, screen plays/drama as well as power point presentations. In cases of communities with halls, such would be utilized basing on convenience.

Screen Documentaries
UCRF artists working under the leadership of UCRF Luweero Branch scout out for individuals touched by cancer and record live or proxy interviews. Documentaries are developed and produced for broadcasting via different mediums. This would also be used for training and in workshops. Such documentaries are aimed at unveiling the ground effect of the pathogen cancer and therefore shall hold live interviews of cancer victims that is; patients, friends, neighbors and family.
Screen documentaries are live, physical, exemplary, realistic and informative in nature.

By broadcasting our programs through the television and radio media, we are so to maximize the flow of information to all nations.

Training and Workshops
With our mobile and attractive mobile cinema, we have built a strong bond to disseminate information to the public. With our artistic and comical presentations, we have also bridged the gap between information and the African poor reading culture.

Digital Photography
A number of artists are teaming to paint an inspirational end to cancer. As the union, we also look forward to an annual painting exhibition against cancer.

Create Video reports
With experience with the eminent Ugandan film companies and audience, we very much believe that as artist, video reports will best be essential in accessing our achievements and strength. This shall as well be backed up with still photos and paper work.
Membership

Registering with any of the Ugandan artists associations is an implied membership to the Union. As well, artists can also join the Union on direct registration. All such registered artists are part of the NUCPA-UCRF Collaboration.
As well, NUCPA-UCRF Collaboration has at all times welcomed the contribution of all artists especially those registered in anyway stated above.

NUCPA-UCRF Collaboration

National Union of Creative & Performing Artists and Uganda Cancer Research Foundation Collaboration is a service partnership between the 2 independent entities.
The National Union of Creative & Performing Artists officially registered its on going services in the fight against cancer under the Uganda Cancer Research Foundation (US), Inc.

NUCPA has also [within its self] put in place a NUCPA-UCRF Collaboration National Liaison committee that coordinates the services of the two bodies and as well looks at the efficient production of the collaboration.

Objectives of NUCPA-UCRF Collaboration

To support and create the public’s awareness of the Uganda Cancer Research Foundation [UCRF] and her activities.
To support and create the public’s awareness of the “UCRF FIVE” to reduce cancer risk
i. Quit/help someone quit smoking
ii. Quit/help someone quit or reduce alcohol consumption
iii. Schedule a medical exam for your breast, cervix, and prostate.
iv. Learn about causes and symptoms for different cancers.
v. Exercise and et healthy
To support the end of devastation, suffering, and death from cancer.
To support a friendly and a socially compassionate supportive service to the victims of cancer.

Press publications to solicit all kinds of community support to reduce and end cancer.
